KANGPOKPI, Feb 9: Former Minister and Independent candidate from 51-Saitu AC, Haokholet Kipgen was bestowed with a traditional blessing by his grandparents today at Khengjang village.
The blessing ceremony was organised by the chief of Khengjang village, Seitinmang Chongloi and his cabinet at Khengjang village.
During the ceremony, the Independent candidate's grandfather, Seitinmang Chongloi and his cabinet killed a mature pig as per the Kuki custom and tradition and bestowed all their blessing upon Haokholet Kipgen while the religious rites and blessing was invoked by Gambih Pastor Ngulkholet Khongsai.
The Gambih Pastor along with Seitinmang Chongloi and the cabinet of Khengjang Village Authority placed their hand upon Haokholet Kipgen and prayed for his success in the ensuing Assembly election.
Later, Haokholet Kipgen expressed his joy and gratitude for the valuable blessing and conveyed his confidence in winning the election with their blessing.
"There are many blessings but the traditional practice of blessing from grandfather/grandparents is something very unique among the Kukis and I felt blessed to get the blessing from my grandfather", he added.
