MEELAL announces

IMPHAL, Feb 9 : Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) has announced the selection of new office bearers of the seven branches of the Organisation across the State along with the passing of several resolutions in connection with the publication of newspapers in Bengali script in the State.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club today, general secretary of MEELAL, Huirem Loikhomba Meitei said that a meeting had been convened today which was attended by workers, advisors and Academic Forum of MEELAL.
During the course of the meeting, Monitoring Committee, Meetei Mayek Implementation, AMWJU, EGM, advisor, MEELAL and the newly elected office bearers arrived at several resolutions, he informed.
MEELAL and its seven branches will contribute in a big way in ensuring the usage of Meetei Mayek in place of Bengali script in all newspapers published in Manipur from January 15, 2023, as informed by the declaration made on January 28, 2022, he stated.
The gathering also resolved to implement strict adherence to the announcement made on March 6, 2020, according to which 3/4 of film posters, banners, sign boards, advertisement posters etc must be in Meetei Mayek.
Further, he stated that a close eye will be kept on the non-inclusion of Meetei Mayek on the number plates of vehicles while acquiring them from the Motor Vehicle Transport Department.
And lastly, there will be strict supervision on the Manipuri Departments of the universities in the State.
He further informed that in order to actualise the resolutions taken, new office bearers had been selected for the 7 MEELAL branches, namely, Kh Ushakiran, president, M Shanti Chanu, general secretary, IE; Elizabeth Leima, president, Y Surjit, general secretary, IW; M Rita Leima, president, Irom Bimol, general secretary, Thoubal; Kh Manimacha, president, K Bhama, general secretary, Lamangdong; M Babita, president, Rina Leima, general secretary, Kakching; Sachen Mangang, president, Kh Priyobarta, general secretary, Pallel and Jamuna Leima, president, Rajkumar, general secretary, Jiri.
