IMPHAL, Feb 9 : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated the Union Budget 2022-23 gives special attention to develop and revolutionize the North East States.
Addressing an intellectual meeting on Union Budget held at Hotel Imphal today, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also is a chairman of NEDA, continued that the budget incorporates many provisions which would bring substantial changes in Manipur and the North East as a whole.
Saying the budget for this fiscal also reflects the ambition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring about a uniform development, he added that benefits entitled to Manipur alone will be increased by about 35 times.
"This will surely enable the State to focus on developments," Himanta Biswa added.
Continuing that no other Prime Minister had paid this much attention to the North East States like Narendra Modi, the Assam Chief Minister asserted that the Centre earmarking Rs 560 crore to upgrade RIMS is a big achievement.
