IMPHAL, Jan 31: The All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) has expressed discontent over the unavailability of Urea to the farmers. AMPFA said this at a press conference held today and added that there has been a short supply of urea which has hampered their plan to increase their Rabi crops productivity. Expressing lack of confidence in the Government, AMPFA questioned whether the urea have been diverted towards poppy plantation. AMPFA also alleged that the District Agriculture Officer for ignoring their requests for adequate supply of urea and urged the Government to formulate a proper policy to ensure that adequate quantity of urea is made available to the farmers in time. The Government should also work towards construction of adequate irrigation facilities to aid the farmers in increasing their produce.
