IED defused

IMPHAL, Dec 3: An improvised explosive device (IED) was found in front of CIA Enterprises located at Andro Parking, Imphal East under Porompat police station this morning.
The IED fitted with a mobile phone was found packed inside an aluminium utensil and the whole package weighed 4 Kgs.
Some passers-by came across the aluminium utensil containing the IED which was placed inside a carry bag.
Soon after getting information of the IED, a team of Porompat police station arrived at the spot and the area was cordoned off.  
Then the police team informed CID Technical Staff as well as the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) of Manipur Police.
Vehicles coming from either side of Andro Parking were diverted to alternative routes as the BDDS retrieved the IED.
The BDDS successfully defused the IED at Nong-maiching foothill at around 2.45 pm.
CIA Enterprises is owned by one Wahengbam Cheng Cheng (33) s/o Jadumani of Wangoi Wahengbam Leikai, presently staying at Andro Parking.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Porompat police station regarding the incident for further investigation.
