IMPHAL, Dec 26: Noted film maker Aribam Syam Sharma has called for a collective effort to further the film revolution sweeping across the State while adding that only the youth can make it happen.
Aribam Syam Sharma made the statement during the felicitation programme organised in honour of the Manipuri delegates who participated in the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa 2022.
Altogether 10 Manipuri films were screened at IFFI 2022.
The programme was organised by Film Forum Manipur and held at the auditorium hall of Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) today.
Addressing the gathering, Aribam Syam Sharma stated that if people carry out research work for the advancement of films in Manipur, aside from the manifold contributions made by various people over the 50 years since its existence, then the film industry will never see a decline.
Just like songs, dances and dramas, films also depict the emotions and feelings pervading through people in the society.
He called it a source of pride that 10 Manipuri films were screened at IFFI 2022 and further commended MSFDS and Film Forum Manipur for their tireless effort in this connection which has helped to demonstrate the quality and standard of Manipuri cinema on the international stage on the 50th year since its inception.
Lastly, he called for mutual encouragement and cooperation for further advancement of Manipuri films.
The felicitation programme was also attended by Thangjam Arunkumar, MLA, Wangkhei Assembly Constituency and Yengkhom Roma, MSFA Lifetime Achievement awardee as presidium members.
