Speaking on the occasion, Pheiroijam Nando Luwang lauded sportspersons of the State saying that they bring acclaim and recognition to the State.
He maintained that if more youths of the State turn their attention towards sports, it could lead to a reduction in the use of narcotic substances. This would lead to better health,  improved intellectual prowess and a sense of heightened patriotism for the State, with an emphasis on safeguarding the indigenous communities, he opined.
