TENGNOUPAL, Dec 18 : Hill Tribal Council (HTC) Moreh celebrated Advent Christmas with leaders of all the communities residing in border town Moreh.
Col Raza Israel, Commandant 5 Assam Rifles; Mahesh Dutt, Deputy Commandant 5 Assam Rifles; Lhukhosei Zou, former Chairman ADC Chandel and Cecila Chinneivah Haokip, former member ADC Chandel & co-convenor of Moreh Town Committee took part in the celebration.
The celebration began with a Christmas message delivered by Rev KK Hahao Gangte, secretary Moreh Pastor's Fellowship followed by a welcome address by Victor Limthang Touthang, president of Hill Tribal Council.
Victor Limthang also read out a Christmas message from TA & Hill Minister, Letpao Haokip.
"The birth of Jesus brings love, joy, hope and peace. It is up to us to bring this message of love, joy, hope and peace to every human being", said Victor Limthang while adding that Christmas is celebrated every year to mark the birth of Lord Jesus Christ.
"We are elated to have you here. We organised this Advent Christmas to bring love, peace and harmony among different communities living in Moreh town", he added.
The HTC president further wished all a Christmas season full of peace and blessings.
Leaders of Meitei Council, Tamil Sangam, All Community Organization, Manipuri Muslim Council, Gorkha Samaj Seva Samiti, KSO, MYC, KWUHR, Moreh Pastor Fellowship and HTC unit leaders also took part in the celebration.
Meanwhile, Moreh Youth Club in collaboration with Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles also organised a Christmas Carol Singing programme in Moreh town.
The event was marked by many cultural programmes including the Jazz Band Display by Moreh Battalion, Christmas Carol by student groups and Cultural dance by students of Bethal High School, Moreh, said a release issued by PRO of IGAR(S).
Rev Mohan Lal of Moreh Pastor Fellowship delivered the Christmas message while Moreh Youth Club presented a memento to commandant of 5 Assam Rifles, Col Raza Israel and Deputy Commandant, Mahesh Dutt.
The Commandant also extended monetary assistance to the schools taking part in the event.
