A team of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) visited the border village Malaya in North Tripura and interacted with the Meitei Pangals residing in the village.
AMUCO in a press release shared that the interaction visit was carried out as a part of the AMUCO's initiative to trace the Manipuri diaspora residing outside the State with the aim to strengthen the bond of love and to build a unified identity of Manipuris and to revive the history of Manipur.
AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang; Advisor Yangsosong Koireng; vice-president MM Thambou and Assistant Secretary Ningthoujam Loken were present at the occasion.
During the visit, the team met with elderly person Keinoumayum Mohamuddin who is around 86 years old and held a detailed discussion with him in connection with the history of the village and Meitei pangals residents.
He was the former Pradhan of Mohonpur Gram Panchayat as well as the former Government elected Chairman of Mohonpur Panchayat, Kamalpur Sub-Division (Bloc- Salma), Dollai District and former Chairman of WAQF Board, Kamalpur Sub- Division.
Sajabam Ismile of Kamalpur extended help in organising the visit and interaction sessions with the Meitei Pangals of the village.
The Meitei Pangals of this village have set an exemplary  tradition by preserving the Manipuri tradition and culture though they have left Manipur many years back due to various reasons.
They still speak Manipuri fluently and the women still adorn Manipuri attire, AMUCO added.
Malaya village located in Dollai district of North Tripura has around 200 households and is home to around 1000 residents.
Speaking to AMUCO members, Keinoumayum Mohamuddin informed that Meitei Pangals have settled properly in this village after they were compelled to abandon the place due to war twice.
The border fencing of India and Bangladesh is located just in front of the courtyard of his house, he said.
The AMUCO team presented the traditional shawl of Meitei Pangal 'Dolaiphi' to Keinoumayum Mohamuddin as a mark of love and respect.
While narrating exciting stories of Meitei Pangals of  Malaya village he also expressed sadness over the dying tradition of singing Manipuri folk song in the village.
