Fraudster accused of duping people in 4 States arrested

The Dimapur Police has arrested a ‘habitual fraudster/conman’ identified as Manindra Kakoti for duping several people in Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur.
According to a press note issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) & PRO, Dimapur on Friday, Kakoti had been on the run for the last four years and has had several criminal cases registered in various parts of Northeastern States. He operated under multiple aliases— Shiva Narayan Sharma, Mahesh Sarma, Manindra Kakoti and Satish Kumar Bora—to name a few.
It said that there were a series of complaints reported at East Police Station, Dimapur in the year 2018 and in the year 2022, that one finance company by the name, Samrat Motors and Enterprise and Asshirvaad Associates run by Kakoti under his many aliases, had cheated multiple people in Nagaland, Arunachal Pra-desh, Assam and Manipur by duping them of lakhs of rupees. He would dupe them “by taking 2% to 4% of the loan assured for processing and project fees which would lead to financial and technical support to set up small-scale factories and businesses.”
Dimapur police team took up investigation, based on two cases registered at the Dimapur East PS and “learned that the alleged accused was a professional fraudster whose identity was well hidden and presumed to be non-existent. However, after continuous technical investigative methods, the said fraudster/conman was finally arrested.”
The arrested conman has reportedly revealed his real name as Manindra Kakoti. All other names he used in committing various financial frauds are fictitious and runs his business in the name of M/s Arihant Motors & Fincorp Pvt Ltd (based in 2016), M/s Samrat Motors & Enterprise (based in 2018), M/s Asshirvaad Associates (based in 2021), M/s Omega Associates (based in 2021) and M/s Star Marketing Services (based in 2022), the police stated.
He is also said to have revealed that he used fake names in operating his businesses so that it would not be possible for the law enforcement agencies to trace his real identity.
The accused has been involved in many criminal cases registered in various parts of Northeastern States and a case in the Naharlagun Police Station, Arunachal Pradesh is also ascertained to be one of the cases.
