IMPHAL, Nov 8: 14th Mister International 1st runner up Lukanand Kshetrimayum was given a warm welcome at Dr Kamal Hall, Department of Psychiatry, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) today.
RIMS Department of Psychiatry, Department of Clinical Psychology, and Share and Care, a Non Government organisation based in Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Imphal jointly organised the reception programme.
It may be noted that Lukanand Kshetrimayum (20), bagged the first runner-up title at the 14th Mister International, held on October 30 in Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines. He also won the Mister Derma World International title in the pageant.
He represented India in the competition, along with 35 contestants from around the world.
The title of 14th Mr International 2022 went to Dominican Republic’s Manuel Franco.
Sharing his experiences and future plans, Lukanand said he wants to be a model who influences youth in positive ways.
Lukanand said, people generally perceive a model or a pageant winner as someone who only wears fashionable clothes and flaunts his/her looks in shows [pageants]. This is not true. A pageant winner sees beyond the colour of his skin and looks. He is an ambassador of goodwill who can make positive contributions towards society.
“I believe this is what a pageant winner should do. And as a model standing on this platform [1st runner up title of Mister International], I want to become a positive influence for youth,” said Lukanand.
In association with RIMS, Lukanand said he wishes to work on projects for mental health and drug de-addiction and rehabilitation of youth.
Head of Department of Psychiatry, Dr RK Lenin felicitated Lukanand with gifts and a memento.
Deputy Director RIMS (Administration) Naorem Indrakumar, Head in-charge of Department of Clinical Psychology Assistant Professor Dr Sameeta Ng and Maria Montessori Higher Secondary School Principal P Suchitra also attended the event as dignitaries.
Born to Kshetrimayum Bimal Singh and Elangbam Sujata of Moirangkhom Bokulmakhong, Imphal West, Lukanand is the youngest among three sons.
