ICAR Seed Testing Laboratory inaugurated

ICAR Seed Testing Laboratory, a timely initiative of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre was inaugurated today.
The seed testing laboratory was inaugurated by Dr Vinay Kumar Mishra, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Meghalaya in the presence of Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director and Nodal Officer of ICAR Seed Project, ICAR-Manipur Centre, said a statement by the Centre.
Dr Arnab Sen, Principal Scientist, ICAR-Meghalaya and Dr C L Verma, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CSSRI, Lucknow were among the other dignitaries who were present at the inaugural ceremony.
The newly inaugurated seed testing laboratory is a first of its kind state-of-the-art facilities established by ICAR in Manipur which is expected to cater the long-felt need of seed producers of Manipur as well as other North-Eastern states.
The laboratory is well equipped with modern instrumentation facility like thermal cycler, near infra-red ray based grain analyzer, non-destructive instant seed moisture balance, etc. for testing of seed quality from physical to molecular level.
The laboratory has a capacity of testing approximately 5000 seed samples per annum.
ICAR has dedicated this laboratory to all farmers of Manipur.
All scientists, KVK staff and technical staff of ICAR-Manipur Centre also attended the event.
