36th National Games- Gujarat 2022T Manorama wins gold; Nungshithoi, Bembem settle for bronze in Judo; Women's team in Football final

IMPHAL, Oct 8 : Tongbram Manorama added yet another gold medal to Manipur's tally in the ongoing 36th National Games winning the women's Elite 85 km Road Race event today.
Manorama who had won a gold medal in the 4 km women's team pursuit event earlier, sealed her second gold medal today finishing the 85 km Road Race Competition in 2 hours 41 minutes and 8.485 seconds (2:41:8.485) to beat Assam's  Chayanika Gogoi  (2nd) and Pooja Baban Donole of Maharashtra (3rd).
Notably, it was also fourth for Manorama as she had won a bronze in 10 km scratch race and a silver in team sprint with Thaja and Sonali.
The day also saw Judokas L Nungshithoi Chanu and L Bembem adding bronze medals to Manipur's tally.
Nungshithoi won the bronze medal in the -52 kg after losing to Pinky Balhara of Delhi in the second round. Earlier in the first round, Nungshithoi overcame Madhu Rani of Chhattisgarh.
Meanwhile, L Bembem sealed the other bronze medal in the -57 kg category after losing out to Savitri of Haryana in the semi-final today. Earlier in the first round, Bembem beat Sneha Chauhan of Uttarakhand and outlasted Sandhya of Haryana in the second round.
Football : Manipur women's enter final
Manipur women’s team cruised into the football final with an overwhelming 5-0 win over Assam today.
Ngangom Bala shone in the match scoring twice (24', 40') to earn Manipur a 2-0 first half lead before Irom Prameshwori Devi (56'), Asem Roja Devi (62') and Yumnam Laxmi Devi (89') taking their turns to slot home a goal each.
With today's haul of 3 medals, Manipur continued to remain 9th with 34 medals (15 gold, 5 silver and 14 bronze medals) as Services Sports Control Board remained at pole position with 45 gold, 31 silver and 28 bronze medals.
