IMPHAL, Oct 7 : H Sunibala opened Manipur's gold medal account in the Judo event at the ongoing 36th National Games being hosted by Gujarat.
Sunibala won the yellow metal beating Mega Tokas of Delhi 1-0 in the women's -63 kg category final bout.
Sunibala entered the final with a 1-0 win over Unnati Sharma of Uttarakhand in the semi-final having beaten Sneha of Uttar Pradesh and Reva Rawat of Delhi in the first and second rounds respectively.
Meanwhile K Bishal secured bronze medal in the men's -66 kg event.
K Bishal defeated Vivek Yadav of Uttar Pradesh in the first round before losing to Ayush Mavari of Delhi in the second round.
Sadly, Uma Chauhan who competed in the +78 kg category bowed out from the second round losing 0-1 to Tulika Maan of Delhi. In the first round, she defeated Priyanka of Haryana.
C Ravichandran Singh also suffered a second round exit losing to Ashish Sangwan of Haryana. He made it to the second round with a 1-0 win over Mohad Abdul Bari of Telangana in the first round.
Boxing
Ojibala Thounaojam was able to secure a quarter final berth today beating Aarya Kedar Kulkarni of Maharashtra in the women's flyweight category first round round bout.
With today's two medals, Manipur are now 9th in the medal tally with 31 medals.
