8th Sagolband Kendra 7-a-side Open Football Tournament begins

Imphal, Oct 29 : The 8th edition of Sagolband Kendra 7-A Side Open Football Tournament 2022 kicked off today at Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Lampak. The tournament which is organized by Sagolband Mantri Leikai Voluntary Organisation, SMLVO is participated by 19 teams from Sagolband Assembly Constituency.
The tournament is sponsored by the Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee.
Health and IPR Minister Dr S Ranjan; MLA, Sagolband Assembly Constituency, RK Imo; RK Rashmani, president, Vijoy Govinda Savayet Committee; MLA, Tamenglong AC Zahemlung Panmei graced the inaugural function as presidium members.
An LED Flood Light system of the playground was also inaugurated by chief guest of the inaugural function, Dr S Ranjan.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Ranjan noted the importance of games and sports and role of State players in making Manipur known to the world.  The Minister also appealed to the participating players to maintain game spirit and take home a positive attitude of the game.
Speaking at the occasion as chief host, MLA RK Imo expressed regret that the tournament was cancelled for two previous years due to Covid pandemic. He however expressed delight over the growing momentum of sporting spirit among youths and took pride in talented sport-stars who have brought laurels to the state.
March Past and Band parade was also demonstrated as a part of the inaugural programme. Dignitaries from sports and other departments also shared the dais during the occasion.
In the opening match of the tournament, KFA crushed SYDO 8-0 thanks to a treble from Agangpu Maringmei (11', 20', 28') and a double from Dihem Kamei (2', 5').
Langdollung Kamei (16'), Sangailung Kamson (24') and Lanshomgangpu (26') netted a goal each in KFA's 8-0 rout.
