Preparations on for Sangai Fest at CCpur

Preparations have begun for the grand and successful holding of the annual tourism festival of the State, the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 at  Churachandpur.
The preparation has been taken up as the State Government had chosen Churachandpur’s border village Behiang and a spectacular offbeat tourist destination, Geljang Resort, Khuga to be two of the venues of the festival this time.
In line with the State Government’s policy to hold the festival across different venues and spread its flavour and reach, the organising committee along with the district administration have started exploring potential activities and charted out layout plans for the two selected sites of Churachandpur to make the festival grander.
The District Organising Committee for Manipur Sangai Festival, Chura-chandpur under the chair- manship of Sharath Chandra Arroju, Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur ins- pected Geljang Resort, Khuga-one of the two sites and held a meeting there today.
It may be mentioned that the District Organising Committee for Manipur Sangai Festival, Chura-chandpur was constituted during the second meeting of the Sub-Committee for Sangai Festival 2022 in respect of Behiang and Khuga on October 15 last here with Trade, Commerce & Industries Minister Nemcha Kip- gen in the chair.
It was also decided in the October 15 meeting that an inaugural event for Sangai Festival, 2022 Chura- chandpur district will be held at border village Be-hiang on Nov 22 at 1 pm to be followed by the main events to be held from Nov 24–26 at Geljang Resort, Khuga. Other tourist attractions such as resorts around Khuga lake, eateries, recreation parks, etc will also be promoted during the Sangai festival.
A joint inspection of the potential sites in the Khuga area was also conducted by the Sub-Committee members along with local MLAs and Churachandpur district administration officials on October 15.
The picturesque Geljang Resort has been an important tourist destination down the years. Surrounding lush green hills, rugged streams and the lakeside scenic view and the boat ride could soak visitors in their good vibes. Eateries, recreation parks and other entertainment items around the resorts are also rejuvenating and a sight to behold. Besides, to enliven and add zing to the site during the festival, potential to stage activities such as cultural shows, music concerts, live football World Cup telecast, food and handicraft stalls, motorcycle rally, hiking/trekking etc at the site have been explored during the meeting today.
