Ideals and beliefs of visionary leader Lamyanba Hijam Irabot hailed on his 126th birth anniversary celebration which was observed widely in the State today as Irabot Day.
126th birth anniversary celebration of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot was held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen at Palace Compound today organised by Irabot Celebration Committee (ICC).
The event was graced by Chairman of Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) State Control Committee, Comrade Langol Iboyaima; ICC president, Dr M Nara; former secretary MSC/CPI, Comrade L Sotinkumar; All Manipur Nupi Marup Founder member, Maibam Kadambini and Manipur State Shumang Leela Council president, Maibam Purnimasi as the presidium members.
A march-past competition was held participated by a total of 44 contingents which was categorised into six categories namely cultural, senior institute, junior, organisational, band party and women contingents.
During the occasion, Hijam Irabot Memorial Award 2022, Thiyam Meghachandra Journalist Award, Thokchom Achouba Integrity Award, Hijam Achouba Shinmi Award, Khangjrakpam Mani Driver Award, Moirangthem Leibakleima Lilaroi Award, Late Nongthombam Iboton Teacher Award and prizes to the winner of march-past competition were presented.
The attendees paid floral tributes to the portrait of Lamyanba Irabot.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr M Nara expressed contentment to see the wide scale observation of the birth anniversary of the visionary leader Lamyanba Irabot in the State and beyond.
Maintaining that it is a healthy and positive change, he stated that such observations will help in spreading the ideals and visions of the eminent leader who made sincere and selfless efforts for an egalitarian society.
Dr Nara also stressed on the need of following the path led by the leader to fight societal evils such as corruption, suppression etc.
Hijam Irabot Birthday Celebration Committee observed the day at Manipur Dramatic Union today. The event was graced by Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh, MLA of Khundrakpam AC; Okram Surjakumar, MLA of Khangabok AC; Puyam Tomcha Meetei, All Manipur Bar Association president and Sarat Salam , Chairman of the Celebration Committee as the presidium members, said a press release by the Committee.
Presenting the keynote address, State Secretary of CPI (M) and convenor of the Celebration Committee, Kshetrimayum Santa remembered Lamyanba Hijam Irabot as a people's leader who strove earnestly for a peaceful and developed Manipur thereby making sincere efforts for the promotion of Manipuri language, culture and tradition.
The dignitaries while speaking at the occasion underscored the importance of following the foot steps of the visionary leaders by the younger generation and to strive for a progressive Manipur.
As a part of the programme, a play titled ' Lamyanba Irabot' was performed by the artists of Manipur Dramatic Union.
On this occasion, befitting tribute was paid to Lamyanba Irabot during the observance held at the office of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) at Kwakeithel by lighting memorial lights as a mark of honour.
The observance was the culmination of the series of programmes organised by AMUCO including social service camps, tree plantation drive, free medical camps, cultural programmes etc as a part of the month-long birth anniversary celebration of Lamyanba Irabot.
The 126th birth anniversary celebration of Lamyanba Irabot was held at Thangmeiband Cheirao Ching memorial site organised by Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) in association with All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO).
Paying floral tributes to the bust of Lamyanba Irabot erected at the memorial complex was the main event of the observation.
Leaders and eminent members of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) and AMUCO attended the event.
In line with the Irabot Day celebration, Iramdam Meeyamgi Apunba Khorjei Lup (IMAKHOL) organised the 3rd Irabot poetry reading session today at Adimjati Ashram Amity Hall, Chingmeirong.
As per a press release by IMAKHOL, Thangmeiband AC MLA, Khumukcham Joykisan; Social Welfare Director, Ngangom Uttam and IMAKHOL president, Dr Chingangbam Chandrakala attended the event as the presidium members.
The attendees paid homage and floral tributes to the photo of Lamyanba Irabot during the programme. The 13th edition of IMAKHOL's publication 'Iraokhol' which is published every six months and an anthology of poems 'Ku Amadi Lei' written by S Lakhpati were also released at the occasion.
Renowned writers of the State attended the poetry reading session of poems dedicated to Lamyanba Irabot.
To mark the observation of Irabot Day, All Manipur Progressive Students' Association (AMPSA) organised a voluntary blood donation camp at RIMS today under the theme 'Meenungshiga Loinana Kangleichasingi Kathoklaba Ee'.
The day was observed by various organisations, local clubs etc at different places across the State by organising social service camps, public discourse and so on in the honour of the eminent leader.
Neinasing Study Club; Imphal East District United Clubs Organisation, Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club, Okram Chuthek; Thiyam Konjin Youth Club in association with LINTOC under the aegis of PPCM; All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre; Initiative and Development Organisation, Samurou; Taning Development Club, Mayanglangjing and the Lamdaibung Social Welfare Club, Kakwa too joined in observing Irabot Day.
