IMPHAL, Jan 5
The completion of Railways work in the State will witness World's Tallest Railway Bridge.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said these at an intellectual meet of BJP held at City Convention Centre today and added that the railway bridge currently under construction near Noney will have a pier height of 141 meters. India's second longest railway tunnel will also be in the State.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a keen interest in developing the North East and he was directed by the Prime Minister himself to visit the Railways line construction in Manipur personally and addressed the issues to ensure that the project is completed in time.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw added that the completion of the Railway project will help in showcasing the beauty of the State and will also help in realizing its full potential. He also added that an experimental broadband connection line from Cox Bazar in Bangladesh has reached upto Agartala and if it is successful, Manipur will have better internet connection.
The completion of the Railway project will help in tapping the huge potential of the State in the tourism sector.
The programme was also attended by Chief Minister N Biren Singh; BJP Manipur State president A Sharda Devi; Union MoS Dr RK Ranjan Singh; MP Leishemba Sanajaoba; State prabhari Dr Sambit Patra; State general secretary (Organisation) Abhay Kumar Giri and other office bearers of the party.
