Sister Sweta William Parmar, NSS- Project Officer, DBC Maram led the contingent from the North East including Sikkim. 16 NSS volunteers from the North East participated in the Republic day parade.
It may be mentioned that the NSS contingent is the only civilian contingent to participate at Rajpath.
To participate in the Republic Day parade, the NSS volunteers had to undergo a month-long vigorous training. NSS participants were drawn from all the States & Union Territories.
Speaking from the capital after the parade, Sister Sweta William informed that the NSS Camp provides ample opportunities to NSS volunteers not only to interact among themselves but also to learn and know the tradition, custom, culture and language of different states.
