IMPHAL, Jan 25 : Special Judge NIA Manipur has directed the SP, Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa to submit a detailed medical report in connection with the bail application filed by Narengbam Samarjit.
Narengbam Samarjit 48 s/o (L) Jugindro of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and self proclaimed 'External Affairs and Defense Minister of Manipur State Council' and former Chairman of Salai Group of Companies had filed the bail application on health grounds on January 19.
The Court after hearing the submission of Special PP NIA and petitioner counsel of N Samarjit, directed the SP, Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa to submit a detailed medical report of N Samarjit on February 3 and fixed the same day for the next hearing.
Mention may be made that N Samarjit is presently lodged in Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa in connection with a case registered by NIA against N Samarjit and Yambem Biren s/o (L) Thambalngou of Tera Khongsangbi Leimaram Leikai in connection with an announcement for separating the state of Manipur from India and forming Manipur State Council on October 29, 2019 in a press conference held at London. During the press conference, N Samarjit was declared as External Affairs and Defense Minister of Manipur State Council and Yambem Biren as Chief Minister of Manipur State Council and they sought asylum in the United Kingdom.
After the investigation was completed, NIA submitted charge sheet of the case on March 3, 2021 against Narengbam Samarjit, Yambem Biren, Elangbam Brojendro (55) of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai, Narengbam Biswajit (55) of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Akoijam Deepa Anand (42) of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai.
