World Tourism Day, 2021 celebrated widely

Minister for Tourism, Oinam Lukhoi Singh graced the World Tourism Day, 2021 held under the theme ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ at Mapithel (Ramrei Village), Kamjong District today.
Addressing the gathering, O Lukhoi highlighted the various tourism projects taken up by the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, N Biren Singh in all the districts of Manipur.
He further stated that such projects will boost the tourism sectors of the State and it will contribute in the inclusive socio-economic development. With the improved law and order situation of the State over the last few years, he asserted that there is more influx of tourism in Manipur and also mentioned that revenue from tourism will be reinstated with the improved COVID-19 situation in Manipur.
The Minister appealed the locals to extend the best hospitality to all the tourists to further promote the tourist destinations.
Cycle Rally, Cultural shows and traditional food items and handicrafts stalls were the highlights of today’s event.
MLA of Jiribam Assembly Constituency and Chairman, TCML, Md Ashab Uddin, Advisor to CM(Health) and MLA of Konthoujam AC, Dr Sapam Ranjan, MLA of Wangjing Tentha AC, P Brojen also graced the occasion as presidium members
Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism),P Vaiphei, Director, Tourism, W Ibohal and officials of the department were also present at the event. It may be noted that the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has designated World Tourism Day on September 27 fostering awareness of tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value and the contribution that the sector can make towards reaching the sustainable development goals.
The World Tourism Day 2021 was also celebrated under the theme 'Tourism for Inclusive Growth' at the campus of Imphal Peace Museum, Nambol jointly organized by Manipur Tourism Forum (MTF) and Center for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Manipur University.
A press release issued by MTF said that the celebration was graced by Prof N Rajmuhan Singh –VC, Dhanmanjuri University, Prof W Chandbabu Singh - Registrar, Manipur University, Prof Ch Ibohal Meitei - Director, CESD, Manipur University, Dr Th Dhabali Singh - Founder President of MTF and Kh Krishnan Singh – President MTF as the presidium members.
 Students & staff of CESD, Manipur University, IRIS 2020 delegates and member of Manipur Tourism forum also attended the event. Speaking on the occasion, the presidium members highlighted the importance of different tourism sector for growth and development, importance of capacity building and skill development of youth to boost the economy of the state, added the press release.
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, India Tourism Imphal and KB Enterprises organised a bike rally from Kangla to Nippon Hill, Tengnoupal.
The bike rally has been conducted to promote war tourism in Manipur and to create awareness among the masses about war remembrance, tourism, peace and reconciliation.
