SENAPATI, Sep 23 : Some former ADC members of Senapati district have termed the delay in conduct of ADC polls in the hill districts of Manipur as a marginalization policy.
During a joint meeting held at Mao-Poumai Catholic Women Hall, Senapati on September 21, the ex-ADC members urged the Manipur Legislative Assembly to convene a special session at an early date and table the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill, 2021, recommended by the HAC.
The meeting was reportedly held to extend solidarity to the All Hill Autonomous District Council Ex-ADC’s Association and Hill CSOs in support of the Manipur (Hill Areas) ADC Bill, 2021.
During the joint meeting a body called Ex-Members, ADC, Senapati district was also formed to assert their sentiment and nominated RK Kaba as convener, Thisho Kriina as co-convener and Ng Rang as member.
The joint meeting resolved that 'deliberately' delaying the ADC elections in the hill is a policy to marginalise the hill people and the “Go to Hills 2.0” programme has become a slogan without any action.
