MPCC condoles
IMPHAL, Sep 14 : The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) mourned the demise of former Union Minister and chairman of Central Election Authority of the All India Congress Committee, Dr Oscar Fernandes today morning at 10.30 by flying the party flag at half mast.
MPCC also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the former Rajya Sabha MP during a condolence meeting held at Congress Bhawan, BT Road, said a condolence message issued by MPCC president, N Loken.
CLP leader, Okram Ibobi Singh; MPCC working president, K Meghachandra Singh; former president, TN Haokip; vice president, AK Mirabai; vice president, T Mangibabu; secretary, Victor Keishing; other office bearers, numerous party leaders attended the condolence meeting, the message read.
Dr Oscar Fernandes was a sharp, strategic and visionary mind of the party and his contribution to the Congress Party for decades was uniquely historic and significantly unparallel, the MPCC president noted.
He was widely respected and loved all over the country and served the country as Lok Sabha MP five times and as a Rajya Sabha MP twice, he continued while adding that the Congress party has lost one of its most distinguished leaders with his demise.
The MPCC president while sharing the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family also prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
