The 125th birth anniversary celebration month of Jananeta Hijam Irabot was held at various places across the State today.
CPI Khundrakpam Local Council organised the celebration at 'Mana Ching' in Keibi Khul to commemorate the day when Jananeta Hijam Irabot along with his Communist counterparts reached Burma (now known as Myanmar) on September 11, 1948, said a press release by Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council.
Comrade Moirang ningthou, L Sotinkumar, State Secretary CPI, RK Amusana Singh, Secretariat member and Bhogen Singh, Secretary of CPI Khundrakpam Local Council attended as the presidium members.
The celebration started with paying of floral tributes to the statue of Hijam Irabot and later a public meeting was convened adhering to Covid SOPs.
Speaking on the occasion, L Sotinkumar said that 'Mana Ching' which holds a significant place in the history will be developed as a revolutionary place to instill the ideals of revolution in the society.
During the meeting, Comrade RK Amusana Singh, Comrade Chandrakumar and Comrade Tombi Devi spoke about the life history of Hijam Irabot and the importance to follow his footsteps were deliberated.
As a part of the anniversary celebration month, an event was also held at Langthabal Mantrikhong organised by CPI Langthabal Local Council which was graced by Dr M Nara, National Executive member of CPI, L Sotinkumar and N Singhajit as the presidium members.
The anniversary month of Hijam Irabot was also celebrated at Mayang Langjing Community Hall organised by CPI Lamsang Local Council and under the aegis of Irabot Celebration Committee, CPI Thanga Local Council organised a function at Moirang Khunou yesterday.
