Renowned writer Khuraijam Nimaicharan Singh passed away yesterday at his residence at Khurai Thoudam Leikai due to an illness.
Many literary organisations of the State mourned the demise of the renowned personality for his countless contributions in the field of art and literature.
Manipuri Sahitya Parishad condoling his demise recalled him as an eminent poet, AIR Imphal approved lyricist, translator and academician of the State who strove for the upliftment of literature in Manipur at many intervals.
He was into writing from a very young age and started off as a teacher and retired from Lamlong High School as a head master, said Manipuri Sahitya Parishad in a statement.
He presented many books of various genre in Manipuri literature, some of his prominent works includes The Second World War in Manipur and My Childhood (which was firstly written in Manipuri and was later translated in English), Sheireng Chabul Sheikhal Machu, Lamhang gi Malang Mahakki Shamlang among others, added the statement.
He was also a member of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad and was also awarded with 'Sahitya Bhushan' by the Parishad.
In a virtual condolence meeting held today presided by Kangjam Ibohal Singh, two minute silence was observed in the honour of the departed soul and prayed that his soul may rest in peace and also extended condolences to the bereaved family.
Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF) Manipur, Assam and Tripura also held an online condolence meeting today and mourned the demise of Khuraijam Nimaicharan Singh.
Mourning his demise, Iramdam Meeyam gi Apunba Khorjei Lup (IMAKHOL), Awang Potsangbam held a condolence meeting today.
The contributions of Khuraijam Nimaicharan in Manipuri literature was recounted and said that his demise will leave an irreparable void.
Sheirengbashingee Apunba Lup (SHAL) Manipur too joined in condoling the demise of Khuraijam Nimaicharan Singh.
