IMPHAL, Aug 10 : The Covid Response Team of Seva Bharati, Manipur in association with Shanatan Dharma Sevak Sangha Myanmar has handed over medicines, PPE and other commodities to COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment Committee, Myanmar at Tamu Hospital yesterday.
The items were handed over under the sponsorship of Seva International as a gesture of help to communities in neighbouring countries in the wake of Covid pandemic, said Covid Response Team of Seva Bharati in a press release.
The hand over function was attended by Mrityunjaya, pracharak of RSS Manipur Prant; V Sekhar, advisor of Sanatan Dharma Sevak Sangha-Myanmar, Thoiba Singh, president of Meitei Council Moreh and other officials of Seva Bharati, it said.
The doctors at Tamu not only expressed gratitude to the visiting team but also honoured them with a certificate in return for their noble initiative, it said.
The Covid response team also met leaders of Gorkha Samaj, a body of Nepali community in Tamu at Gorkha Dharmasala and distributed medicines, the release said.
The Gorkha leaders also sought assistance regarding vaccination against Covid and the team had assured to respond after due consultation with the Manipur Government and the Central Government, the release said.
A similar distribution programme was also organised at Leibi village in Tengnoupal district, the release said.
Further, more medicines  meant for Myanmar Indo Meitei Group, communities residing in Moreh were handed over to Shanatan Dharma Sevak Sangha Myanmar, Meetei Council Moreh and Tamil Sangam Moreh, it said.
The Covid response team also assured to carry forward the same initiative of reaching out to communities with medicines and other assistance.
