Union Minister of External Affairs and Education, Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, said that the unsung heroes of Manipur, which is not yet recorded in the syllabus, will be introduced in the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
He made the above statement during a T-Shirt releasing function of the upcoming 130th Years of Patriots' Day organized by the Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur at New Delhi yesterday, said a press release by AIMS.
The T-shirts depicting rare images of historical figures in the 19th century were collected with copyrights from the British Library, London and other sources. Courtesy goes to those libraries in London for permitting to reproduce the images.
Dr RK Ranjan further expressed that depicting the heroes of Manipur in the T-shirt will remind us how the forefathers fought the war to save Manipur from the British colony with courage and bravery, despite knowing that the British Empire was more powerful.
It may be noted that August 13 is commemorated yearly as "Patriots' Day" in Manipur. AIMS, Manipur will also pay tribute to martyrs on 130th Patriots' Day in memory of State heroes who lost their lives fighting during the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891.
