Condolences continue to pour in for Ima Momon
IMPHAL, Jul 19
Patriotic Writer's Forum (PAWF) of Manipur, Assam and Tripura held an online condolence meeting condoling the sudden demise of Soibam Ongbi Momon popularly known as Ima Momon who was the president of All Manipur Tammi Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup.
A press release by PAWF, Manipur stated that eminent members of the forum namely Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, president of PAWF Manipur and secretary Rakesh Naorem, president of PAWF Tripura, Gurumayum Biplab Sharma and president of PAWF Assam, Thounaojam Shyam and senior member KC Mangang among others attended the online condolence meeting.
The attendees hailed the countless and selfless contributions of Ima Momon in the major issues of the State including the struggle against AFSPA-1958 and issues to safeguard the unity and integrity of Manipur and many other societal issues.
She was also among the 12 women who protested naked in front of the historic Kangla Fort against AFSPA, 1958 in July 2004.
Ima Momon also spearheaded the Meira Paibi movement in the State and strove earnestly against the issue of drug abuse.
Two minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed and also prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace.
Many other organisations of the State including All Manipur Nupi Marup, All Manipur Students Guardian's Organisation, The Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima) and Tarahei Youth Development Organisation (TYDO) also mourned the untimely and sudden demise of Ima Momon.
The organisations in separate statements said the demise of Ima Momon will leave an irreparable void and is a big loss for the State and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
They also extended their condolences to the bereaved family.
