IMPHAL, Jul 16 : United Committee Manipur (UCM) in association with the State Government organised a Covid vaccination programme at its Lamphel office, today.
During the programme, members of different CSOs and individuals were vaccinated, said UCM in a statement.
On the occasion, UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam appealed to all to get vaccinated to defeat the Covid pandemic.
He also appealed to Meira Paibis and local clubs to help clear vaccine doubt among the masses and the politicians and political parties to stop disregarding Covid guidelines whilst holding events.
Reminding that a large chunk of the State population is made up of poor and getting them treatments for Covid in private hospitals is unlikely, he appealed to the State Government and department concerned to increase the Covid beds capacity at RIMS and JNIMS.
He further appealed to the authority concerned to open the OPD for non-Covid patients at JNIMS and RIMS to address the grievance of people suffering from chronic diseases and those seeking emergency treatment.
Lastly, the UCM president appealed to the people of Manipur to support the measures being taken up by the State Government, including the 10 day total curfew which is to begin from July 18 to contain the virus.
