Kang greetings

IMPHAL, Jul 11 : Chief Minister N Biren has extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur, especially Hindu brethren on the occasion of Kang (Rath Yatra).
In his message, N Biren said that the celebration of Kang in Manipur begins on the second day of engen (month of Manipur lunar calendar) and ends on the 10th day.
Saying that the main events of the festival include the pulling of traditional chariot and offering flowers to Lord Jagannath, the CM added that people from all walks of life turn up to participate in the procession of Kang Chingba in the belief that holding the ropes and pulling the chariot will wash away all sorrows of life.
"As we celebrate the festival with pomp and gaiety, we must also not forget to observe Covid Appropriate Behaviour," he said and prayed for prosperity.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand also wished all the followers of Hindu faith a very happy Jagannath Rath Yatra 2021.
Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh, while greeting the people of Manipur on the occasion, prayed for the festival to inspire the people in the fight against the Covid pandemic.
He also appealed all to be responsible citizens, by getting vaccinated and adhering to the SOPs for COVID-19.
CAF & PD Minister Th Satyabrata Singh and Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi extended warm wishes on the occasion.
The Ministers appealed to all to adhere to the Covid guidelines to defeat the pandemic.
