NSU Manipur organises 'Virtual debate competition'

As a part of the awareness programme on Olympic Games, Co-Circular Committee, National Sports University, Manipur organised a virtual debate competition on the topic 'The Olympics- A Testimony to Development of Global Community or An Extravaganza" on June 28.
The programme was attended by Dev Shankar Sharma, IAS (Retd) president, Manipur Table Tennis Association & member, Manipur Olympic Association and L Shyam Kumar, Registrar, National Sports University as presidium members.
Dean of Academics, Professor R Subramanian also attended the programme as special guest, said a statement from NSU Imphal, Manipur.
A total of 17 students from different semesters of NSU took part in the competition.
Deva Shankar Sharma; Gehabati Chanabam, Deputy Controller of Examination, NSU and DR Shyam Sunder Rath, Head & Associate Professor, Department of Physical Education and Sports Coaching, NSU were the judges of the competition.
L Shyam Kumar had urged the students to watch the Olympics 2021 to learn how to conduct and manage such a mega-event in this pandemic situation and learn crisis management at the occasion, the statement said.
The statement also quoted Deva Shankar Sharma as saying, "Debates play a pivotal role in broadening the views of participants. For students, especially, they help a lot in cultivating their thought process as they learn about new, interesting and useful facts through a healthy exchange of ideas".
He also congratulated all the NSU fraternity for organising such valuable events to engage the students despite the pandemic, it said.
The president of the event, RC Mishra (IAS Retd), Vice Chancellor, NSU congratulated all the participants and winners for their hard work. He also declared the results of the competition, the statement continued.
