IMPHAL, Jun 1 : The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has resolved to initiate certain steps to check the distribution of rice under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) to ensure beneficiaries get their due share of rice.
A press release issued by AMUCO said that issues pertaining to the distribution of lesser amount of rice by certain agents are being reported from many localities during these difficult times. Saying that AMUCO will not go easy on anyone found embezzling public rice, the statement appealed to all concerned to do the needful at the earliest.
Though rice is now distributed to non-cardholders too, the amount of rice cut by the agents is high, it observed.
AMUCO further stated that there is a great disparity in the quantity of rice distributed to people in different Assembly Constituencies, with some agents distributing as low as 3 kilograms only, urging all concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
The organisation further stated that the alleged involvement of certain local clubs in this matter is also very upsetting. AMUCO also appealed to the State Government to encourage and look after the need of local clubs who are contributing to the fight against COVID-19 and avoid taking advantage of the Covid situation to gain fame or wealth.
