IPAK appeals

The Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK), Manipur has urged the State Government to put in place stringent measures to arrest the rapid surge of COVID-19 in the State.
Notably, the State recorded 600 Covid cases on Friday (May 7) alone.
In a statement, IPAK also urged the Government to provide relief packages to the people, check selling of essentials at an inflated rate and upgrade treatment facilities at hospitals.
The association, on the other hand, charged that JNIMS authority cremating the corpse of Covid positive man without the consent of family members is a clear indication of the hospital authority not maintaining record properly.
Saying that the family of the deceased possessed the permits from the district administration for cremating the body at their locality, the statement urged the JNIMS authority to be more attentive to avoid such a blunder in future.
Cremating the body without the consent of the families is a major crime, IPAK said and urged the  Director of JNIMS to initiate a departmental enquiry and take actions against the wrongdoers.
The association also appealed to the State police to investigate the unfortunate incident by registering a suo moto case and bring all responsible to book.
IPAK sought actions against doctor, hospitals which denied providing medical attention to one P Masiiyi Mao of Maram who died on May 2.
