Tobacco products disposed off

IMPHAL, May 8
Joint body of 6 students union including Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpang Lup (AIMS), All Manipur Students Union (AMSU), Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Kangleipak Students Association (KSA), Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK) disposed off seized tobacco products yesterday.
The joint student body said they had announced that the sales of tobacco products will be not allowed in the State as the Government had also issued order banning consumption of tobacco products in public, said a statement issued by the joint student body.
A team of joint student body had conducted a raid at godowns in Mantripukhri and huge cache of tobacco products were seized which were destroyed on the spot, added the statement.
The team also announced that they will visit hospitals to look at the setups and preparation taken up for care of COVID-19 patients.
The statement also expressed gratitude to medical staff, Police personal and media for the work done to keep the public safe and informed during such trying times.
