‘Avoid chaotic situation in Agriculture Department’

IMPHAL, May 6: Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Manipur Prant urged the Government to appoint a person who have proper technical knowledge of agriculture and expertise in the field concerned as the head of Agriculture Department to avoid any chaotic situation.
The above statement was made by Telem Dara Singh, general secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Manipur Prant during a press meet held at Sagolband today.
He continued that with the appointment of an officer who has no prior experience in agriculture and its related fields as the Director of the Agriculture Department has led to a situation of unrest in the department.
Stating that such act as unfortunate for those who practices agriculture and allied activities especially the farmers of the State when the time is ripe to start the agricultural activities and it will hinder the process of activities to be taken by the department for the welfare of the farmers.
Stressing that Manipur is mainly relied on agricultural activities to sustain the livelihood, Dara said that if the problem is not resolved at the earliest it will lead to agricultural crisis in the State.
He also appealed to all the concerned to intervene and solve the matter soon in the interest of all.
A person with technical knowledge and proper expertise is a must for the development of agriculture and allied activities as the head of the Agriculture Department, if not the department would not be able to function properly, he added.
He further stated maintaining the line of promotion in the department is essential for the smooth and efficient functioning of the Agriculture Department.
Lastly he urged the Government to appoint an Agricultural Commissioner in the State to pacify the development of agriculture and allied activities.
