Cong for lockdown
IMPHAL, May 4: Following Rahul Gandhi’s tweet appealing the Centre to impose full lockdown, MPCC spokesperson, Ningombam Bupenda has urged the State Government to clamp complete lockdown in Manipur.
In a statement, the MPCC (Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee) spokesperson said the Nation is facing a chaotic health crisis due to the second wave of COVID-19.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had tweeted that the only way to stop the spread of coronavirus now was a full lockdown with the protection of Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme (NYAY-Nyuntam Aay Yojana) for the vulnerable sections.
Following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, Bupenda had also tweeted his concern and suggested complete lockdown in Manipur.
“I strongly suggest a total lockdown in Manipur with economic package for the needy to stop the daily rising mortality rate and positivity rate in the State,” tweeted Bupenda.
Manipur is witnessing a rise in the number of fresh infections and casualties due to the disease.
The State Government had recently declared Greater Imphal area a containment zone for a week enforcing strict restrictions on the movement of people.
