IMPHAL, May 30 : The Manipur People's Party (MPP) has urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh to convene an all political party meeting to fight the pandemic collectively.
The MPP, in a statement, claimed that the party had urged the Chief Minister to convene an all political party meeting on  different occasions, however, not even a committee of all political parties has been formed to date.
Condemning Lok Sabha MP RK Dr Ranjan for claiming that political parties in the State are inactive during these difficult times, the party urged the MP to stop taking political mileage from the Covid pandemic.
The party along with its volunteers are extending all possible help to the Covid affected families by conforming to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for COVID-19, it added.
Urging the Government to make sure every beneficiary gets their due share of free rice to alleviate their hardship to some extent, the MPP appealed to all to approach the party if they receive a lesser quantity of rice to take legal actions.
Opining that keeping Covid patients under home isolation is risky as majority of the houses in the State don't have facilities such as separate washrooms, the party suggested that opening more Covid Care Centres would be more productive in arresting the Covid spread.
