Brajabidhu no more
IMPHAL, May 30: Eminent Congress leader and former Minister W Brajabidhu Singh passed away at Shija Hospital today morning.
He represented Lamsang Assembly Constituency as Congress MLA in 2002, 2007 and 2012 and also served as Minister in charge of Minor Irrigation and CADA from 2002-2005.
He was also the Chief Functionary of Rural Development Organisation (RDO) Lamdeng from 1975 to 2002.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee mourned the sudden demise of W Brajabidhu Singh who began his political career as a grassroot Congress worker in 1970 and remembered him as a committed social worker, a true friend of the poor, an entrepreneur and a political stalwart who worked tirelessly for the people.
His untimely demise is an irreparable loss not only for the Congress Party but also for Manipur, said a statement.
In recognition of his sacrifice and dedication, the party flag will be flown at half mast and the party prayed for the the departed soul and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
Condoling the demise of W Brajabidhu Singh, Speaker Y Khemchand Singh said he was a born social worker and had worked for upliftment of the poor before he forayed into politics.
Law and Legislative Affairs Minister, Th Satyabrata Singh and Karam Shyam, MLA of Langthabal Assembly Constituency also expressed grief at the demise of W Brajabidhu Singh and prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace.
Lamsang Block Congress Committee organised a condolence meeting at the residence of late W Brajabidhu Singh today attended by Congress leaders of Lamsang A/C, office bearers of the Committee and the family members of the deceased.
The attendees paid floral tributes and observed two minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
