Ensure safe return of MU hostellers, urges DESAM

IMPHAL, May 23 : The secretary general of Manipur University Unit Council of DESAM has drawn the attention of the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University to facilitate return of hostellers amid the pandemic situation.
In the 6-point memorandum submitted to the Vice Chancellor of the varsity in the interest of students on May 21 last, the secretary urged the MU authority to make necessary arrangements for Covid testing of hostellers and ensure 10 to 15 day quarantine provision before they returned to their respective residences.
In wake of restriction of movement, the secretary appealed to MU authorities to make transportation arrangements to make sure the hostellers reach home safely.
The secretary also appealed to authorities concerned to ensure research scholars who are undertaking laboratory projects at the University continue their stay considering the importance of their projects and career.
While appealing MU authorities to review its decisions and avoid impractical resolutions, the secretary also appealed to all concerned to take up concrete resolutions which will not cause confusion or mental harassment to the students.
In the fifth point, the secretary asked MU authorities to make appropriate arrangements to send back students from far flung areas and from outside the State who will face difficulties in travelling.
All working or residing within MU must strictly adhere to Covid SOP, the secretary continued while appealing for befitting action against SOP violators.
