Court rejects
IMPHAL, May 19: Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today rejected an application filed by Lamphel Police seeking the Court’s direction to freeze the bank account of SMART/SALAI Authority and transfer or sale of its movable and immovable assets.
During the hearing, the Court observed that an earlier order of the Special Court NIA Manipur in November last year had directed authorities concerned to unfreeze accounts of Salai Holdings and the same order was upheld by the High Court.
As such, freezing of accounts of Salai Holdings and restricting its transfer or sale of moveable and immovable properties are beyond the jurisdiction of the CJM Imphal West Court.
The Court then rejected the prayer of the Lamphel Police and directed it to approach an appropriate Court.
