Low volume order

IMPHAL, May 18 : District Magistrate Imphal West informed that the use of loudspeaker must be in low volume/tone and it is permitted only between 8 am and 6 pm without written permission.
In an order issued today DM Imphal West said there are increasing cases of misuse of loudspeakers in various localities of Imphal West District during the pandemic by a number of NGOs/CSOs/Clubs/Organisation etc without obtaining prior permission from the competent authority which is a violation of provisions of the Manipur Control of the Use and Play of Loudspeakers Act, 1976. The indiscriminate usage of loudspeakers during the pandemic not only creates nuisance to the public but disturbs the peaceful environment in the locality.
The DM further said limited use of loudspeakers for creating public awareness and enforcing of COVID-19 related protocols may be allowed in the localities in public interest by adhering to the guidelines mentioned above.
