SOP violators penalised

IMPHAL, May 16 : The Police Department fined 175 SOP violators today and collected a sum of Rs 56, 400/- (fifty six thousand four hundred only) as fines.
The Police Department continued the crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc. to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
The Police Department warned that those who violate the SOP shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
The Police Department has collected a sum of Rs 2,04,98,960/- (Rs two crore, four lakh, ninety eight thousand and nine hundred sixty only) as of today.
