Council of Thang-Ta writes to Centre to develop Mt Koubru

The Leadership Council of Thang-Ta, Manipur has submitted a written representation to Secretary Home Affairs, Government of India and Chief Minister N Biren Singh to constitute a ‘Special High Powered Committee’ to develop Mount Koubru and look after the safety, security and needs of the pilgrims.
In the letter it submitted, the council said the Special High Powered Committee (SHPC) should consists of the Koubru Shrine Board; Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forest; Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs; Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; Chief Secretary, Manipur; Member Secretary, Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi; Director General of Police, Manipur; Director General of Border Security Force; Chief Engineer PWD Manipur; Home Secretary, Manipur and Secretary, State PWD.
Urging the authorities concerned to provide security and ensure safety of the pilgrims from ‘threats’, the council asked the Centre to improve all roads leading to Mount Koubru in Kangpokpi district.
Mount Koubru is a holy place for the followers of the Sanamahi religion, it added.
The council asked the Centre through the Special High Powered Committee to install medical facilities along the way to Mount Koubru, from NH-39 to ‘holy cave’.
It also asked for a facility at Koubru Leikha where devotees and people scaling Mount Koubru can get registered and get necessary medical amenities.
