IMPHAL, Apr 24: The Medical Department Emplo-yees Association has strongly condemned the recent Phoubakchao inci-dent where a vehicle was attacked by bandh supporters inflicting ‘serious injuries’ to a nurse on duty.
The incident happened on April 22 when supporters of a bandh called by the Manipur State Pachayat Parishad ‘attacked’ a nurse and her driver who were going towards Churachandpur for COVID-19 duty.
In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister N Biren Singh today, the association said the ‘Panchayati Raj Institution’ and the culprits involved in the attack should be booked immediately and punished.
The Panchayati Raj Institution should also compensate the victims for the damages caused.
If the State Government doesn’t take up immediate and effective actions, then the employees of the Medical Department may not participate in any Covid related programmes, said the association.
It may be noted that the bandh was called denouncing the Government’s failure to release wages for job-card holders, honoraria of Panchayat functionaries and various other funds.
