IMPHAL, Apr 1: Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has greeted the people of Manipur especially the Christian brethren and extended her best wishes on the sacred occasion of Good Friday.
In her message, she said, 'The occasion of Good Friday reminds us of the compassion and supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ for all the sins of mankind. His message of love, forgiveness, truth and renunciation of violence, fanaticism or revenge should always be remembered by one and all. Lord Jesus always led his followers along the path of goodness'.
She appealed to all to come forward and uphold the noble ideals of peace, harmony and brotherhood especially espoused by Jesus Christ for a better world, devoid of all evils.
Extending his wishes on the auspicious occasion, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, 'On the solemn occasion of Good Friday and in the celebration of Easter Sunday, let us rededicate ourselves to the noble virtues of love, peace and forgiveness for strengthening the bond of brotherhood and unity amongst all communities of the State.'
Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh and Labour and Employment Minister Th Satyabrata Singh also joined in greeting the people on the occasion of Good Friday. The Meetei Christian Churches Council Manipur wished the people of the State on the occasion of Good Friday and Easter Sunday and prayed for a peaceful and harmonious society.
