All Manipur Nupi Marup celebrates 'International Women's Day'

All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) celebrated 'International Women's Day' yesterday at Ema Laikhurembi Shanglen in Khurai Sajor Leikai.
Yumnam Ongbi Chitra Devi, pradhan; M Sakhi Leima, former president AMNM; N Memba Devi, secretary, Keithel Nupi Marup; L Sumatibala Devi, general secretary, AMNM; Chanalembi, president, Imphal East District Nupi Marup and Ng Hemankumari Devi, president, Khurai Area Nupi Marup as presidium members, said a statement issued by AMNM.
AMNM said in the statement that despite various initiatives taken up by the Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi including "Beti Bachao, Beti Padao" campaign and setting up of 'Fast-Track Courts' to hasten the judicial procedure following any crime against women and girl child , the crime rate against women and girl child has been increasing and this is very disheartening scenario.
The need for bringing equality between men and women to propel the society forward was put forth by various speakers at the programme, added the statement.
