IMPHAL, Mar 27: Gover-nor Dr Najma Heptulla has greeted the people of Manipur and extended best wishes on the occasion of Yaoshang (Holi) festival.
The Governor in her message, said, 'Let the joyous spirits of the Holi festival rejuvenate and strengthen the age old bond of love, harmony and understanding in the society and keep all sections of the people united to march forward peacefully.
Greeting the people on the occasion, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said,' Yaoshang, the festival of colours, is one of the biggest festivals of the Meitei community. Everyone, irrespective of age and gender, takes part in celebrating the festival with energy, excitement and cheerfulness accompanied with religious songs and dance performances. The festival has also evolved into an occasion for promoting sports at the grassroots level and encourages fraternization and social goodwill.'
Further he appealed to all to observe COVID appropriate behaviours to protect oneself from the pandemic.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Y Khemchand, Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh and Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh also extended best wishes to the people on the joyous occasion.
