Manipur gets first state of the art Nuclear Medicine facility for accurate diagnosis

American Oncology Institute (AOI) in association with Babina Speciality Hospital Imphal is the first centre of excellence for Nuclear Medicine that provides advanced imaging techniques such as PET Scan & Gamma camera in Manipur.
The cancer centre in Imphal is equipped with advanced technology and is at par with international standards, said a statement from the institute
Nuclear medicine imaging, such as PET/CT Scan provides unique information that cannot be obtained using other imaging procedures. The test offers the potential to identify cancer in its earliest stages which is crucial for its treatment. At AOI, world-class, and FDA cleared systems, Discovery IQ PET/CT are used that have high speed and lead to more precise information and accurate diagnosis.
The 100 bedded hospital delivers diagnostic and therapeutic clinical services that span the entire spectrum of cancer care to the entire state of Manipur and nearby areas, all under one roof.
AOI, Imphal has the most advanced state-of-the-art technologies assisting the specialists to obtain the best clinical outcomes such as capable of performing CT inside the treatment room, five times faster than conventional linear accelerators, full digital machines with cloud connection among others.
With the aim of providing optimum and most effective care to cancer patients, weekly International Tumour Board meetings are conducted wherein the clinicians from the US join their counterparts in India to jointly review complex cases, added the statement.
