Award conferred

IMPHAL, Mar 25: National awardee Soibam  Surchandra, managing director and proprietor of Soibam Tomba and Sons has been awarded International Achievement Award 2021.
The award was given to him in line with the 11th International Conference of Dalit Sahitya and Caste Free Asian Meet 2021 at United World Trade Centre in Kathmandu today recognising his contributions in the filed of social agripreneur.
He was among 30 awarded.
The awards given today include Asian Excellence Award, BR Ambedkar International Award, International Youngster Award, International Peace Award and Indo-Nepal Friendship International Award.
The 2-day event was organised jointly by Dalit Sahitya Academy Nepal and Dalit Sahitya Academy Manipur.
Nepal National Assembly former MP Rishi Babu P, Unified Dalit Rights Forum Nepal former president Laxman Bodewa, Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi New Delhi National secretary Yumnam Mahendrakumar, social and cultural activist Dr Oinam Chaoba Meetei and Padmashree Waikhom Gojen Meetei and other eminent personalities attended the event.
It may be noted that S Surchandra has earlier won awards for  his contribution towards conserving many fish species including indigenous ones.
