IMPHAL, Mar 17: Social Welfare and MAHUD Minister Henry Okram inaugurated the 12th Annual Art Exhibition including Photography 2020 at Imphal Art College today.
The exhibition is organised by Arts Society, Manipur and will continue till March 20.
Speaking at the inaugural function Henry Okram said that Manipur is endowed with rich art and culture and has produced many acclaimed artists in various fields including sculpture, paintings etc. He hoped that many artists will bring more laurels for the State in the National and International competitions.
Speaking about the exhibition, he said that such exhibition creates a space for young artists to showcase their ideas, creativity, expressions and talents. After hearing the problems and grievances faced by the artists of the State, Henry Okram assured that he will apprised the situation to the Chief Minister N Biren Singh to look into the matter.
The Minister appealed to the people of the State to collectively work for the development various fields of Art in the State.
The Minister also presented the 12th Annual Art Award 2020 to Wariban Nelopal Devi and Honourable Mention of the 12th Annual Art Award 2020 to Sairem Satyajit Singh at the programme today.
A Hemanta Singh, principal, Imphal Art College ; Y Nabachandra Singh, president of Arts Society Manipur and various artists and others attended the function.
Y Nabachandra said the Art Society has been playing an important role in various works related to Arts. He also sought attention of the Government to allocate a piece of land for the society.
A total of 31 art works by 22 artists including photographers are currently on display at the exhibition.
